Great man, great mind....a perfect example of somebody that did wrong in his early life, and has learned from their mistakes, as a human usually should....saldy so many people nowadays make mistakes, and are proudn of them.

Fuck no. Barack Obama is nothing like MLK. MLK was one of the greatest figures in American history because he was seriously committed to real institutional change for poor people and against imperialism. Barack Obama is not.

Howard Zinn refers ad nauseum to the "possibility" of change under Obama without presenting an iota of evidence in support of this "possibility." Considering Obama's opportunistic and cautious political career, his obligations to the Democratic Party, his tremendous financial support from the corporate and political elite, the advisors who surround him, it is extremely doubtful that his presidency will be more progressive say, than Bill Clinton.

There has to be 100,000 peacekeepers (with enough power to defend their life and civilians life) and a confederation.
It is not viable economically to remain this way.
If Obama doesn't talk about that openly, he will lose the moral ground needed and will lose all his energies trying to redefine himself later on.

There is much going on, china and russia don't have to prove they are powerfull anymore..everyone knows it.
They don't have what is needed nor the will to impose theirself as sole superpower neither.
So Obama has much greater chance to coordinate and reform the security council, enhancing the international criminal courts role and budget, institutionalize sovereign states foreign intervention rights and deal with refugees with multilateral responsabilities.

the possibility is present due to the unusual economic circumstances of the current moment + people organising and agitiating for whats right.
There is more to this than just a matter of being passive for 4 years and then picking Shmuck #1 or Shmuck #2 and then being passive for another 4 years.
If people attempt the former then theres a good chance we'll see something, its not going to be a workers paradise of course, if people accept the latter then it will indeed be the same old.

jammoexii I totally agree with you. But remember this that MLK rode on the bus so that Obama could run and OBAMA has ran so that we as a people could finally fly here in America. You might not agree but speaking as someone who has had dogs biting them in peace marches and being sprayed and beaten and jailed and seeing some of our people killed then you would realize just how far we have come.
